Margaret Fairchild-Hons, Founder and CEO
Margaret Fairchild-Hons has years of experience helping others find resources to lift them out of crisis. So developing a resource hub for women’s equality was not an accidental adventure but a natural progression of her work. What triggered her decision to establish the Women’s Shift To Equality focused around young women entering their first year of college unprepared for life away from home. She discovered an urgent need for resources to guide them through an unforeseen crisis on college campuses. Hons expanded her focus to include violence against women, Title IX accountability, internet safety, wage inequities and legislative advocacy. She found relevant resources but they were not readily available to the public at large. Using her experience in communications and publications for associations, she developed content for the website so readers could gain quick access to needed resources and join in collaborative efforts to advance equality at the local, state and national levels. The organization works to assist women and girls claim equal status in a nonviolent society. Hons is a member of American Association of University Women and The League of Women Voters. She holds a B.S. from UT Southwestern and an M.S. from the University of North Texas.
